The weeks leading up to and the night before a surgery can be restless. Worries and questions run through your head. Fear about what will actually happen during surgery and anxiety concerning recovery after surgery can be overwhelming. Having total joint replacement surgery at Parkview is different.
Orthopedic education classes are free to anyone scheduled for a total hip, knee or shoulder replacement. During the class, patients will learn about their surgery, meet with staff who will be providing their care, and given advice as to what to expect at each stage of surgery—before, during and after.
You may also want to attend the classes if you have met with your surgeon, but are still undecided about whether or not to have surgery.
We encourage patients to bring their family and/or friends to the class.
Physical and occupational therapists and discharge planners are involved in the classes. Patients and their supporters can ask questions and see equipment that is used during their recovery.
Date/Time: Second Tuesday of each month, 10 a.m. AND fourth Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. Additional classes are scheduled when needed.
Location: Bard Community Room at Parkview Bryan Hospital. Registration is not required.
