CHWC was recently named a recipient of the Melvin Creeley Environmental Leadership Award for our exceptional environmental stewardship efforts in 2020. This is the third time CHWC has received this award.
Melvin Creeley Environmental Leadership Award honorees are recognized for promoting sound environmental practices through environmental stewardship and exemplifying the best practices for other hospitals to follow. Honorees were selected by the Environmental Leadership Council at the Ohio Hospital Association (OHA). The award is named after the retired president and CEO of East Liverpool City Hospital, Melvin Creeley, who chaired OHA’s Environmental Leadership Council from its inception in 2001 to 2010.
In 2020, CHWC recycled:
- 237 lbs non-ferrous materials
- 44.36 tons sorted office paper
- 98 lbs bare bright copper #2
- 3,355 lbs of sheet iron / metal shred
- 478 lbs of aluminum
- 42 lbs of electronic materials
This translates to saving approximately:
- 236 trees
- 2,404 gallons of oil
- 71,035 gallons of water
- 50,212 hours of electricity
