Highly-skilled
professional, in-patient rehabilitation services are
offered at CHWC Montpelier Hospital. An interdisciplinary team
of health care professionals assesses each patient’s unique
needs, develops an individualized treatment plan, and works
with the patient to achieve his or her goals. Dr.
Larry Kennedy,
our full-time physiatrist, a physician who specializes in physical
medicine and rehabilitation, leads our rehabilitation team.

Hospital
Services at Montpelier Hospital:
Should the need arise, the full
capabilities of a hospital
are immediately available including a laboratory, radiology,
respiratory therapy, and our emergency room with an in-house
physician.
Skilled
Swing Unit:
The Montpelier Hospital
has 25 “swing” beds that can be used
to provide either acute care (medical/surgical) or skilled nursing
and rehabilitative services. The unit is designed to bridge the
gap between hospital care and home. We work with patients
with many conditions, including:
• Joint replacement
• Hip fracture
• Stroke
• Debilitation following illness or injury
• Wound management
• IV Therapy
Comprehensive
Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
The spectrum of rehabilitation at CHWC is complete with our
ten bed comprehensive inpatient rehabilitaiton unit. This rehab
unit offers a more intensive therapy program, with patients
routinely receiving three to ive hours of interdisciplinary
therapy each day. Our team of professionals can effectively
rehabilitate patients with many illnesses or injuries, including:
• Stroke
• Multiple trauma
• Neurological disorders
• Traumatic brain injury
• Motor vehicle accident
• Hip fracture
Patients in this unit typically rehab for one to four weeks.

Our Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is accredited
by CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation
Facilities. CARF accreditation assures patients and their
families that our programs meet internationally recognized
standards. It also means we have made a commitment to
enhance the quality of our services continually while keeping
our focus on patient satisfaction.
