The care of patients in the hospital has become much more specialized. At Parkview, a team of physicians and nurse practitioners assume your care while you are in the hospital.
A hospitalist has expertise in caring for complicated hospitalized patients on a daily basis. They are in the hospital most of the day and available to meet with your family members, are able to follow-up on tests, answer nurses, questions, and can deal with any problems that may arise. In many instances, hospitalists may see you more than once a day to assure that care is going according to plan, and to explain test findings to you and your family members.
The hospitalist will also coordinate care between the different specialty physicians you may have in the hospital. Providing a central person who can see the entire picture of your health in the hospital.
The hospitalist will coordinate your medical care and communicate with your primary care provider when you are discharged from the hospital so that your medical care is uninterrupted.
